Featured Song: Woodes – The Thaw.
Woodes is back. Following an exceptionally well-received debut EP with fellow Melbourne native and producer, Elkkle, and her follow-up breakout single “Daggers and Knives” (which you’ve got to check out if you haven’t already), Woodes just released her latest piece of work in an already impressive musical catalog: “The Thaw.”
The track’s minimalist and crisp production, gorgeous and swooning vocals, and lovely guitar – courtesy of co-producer LANKS (who is, surprise, surprise, yet another uber talented Melbourne-based artist) – ebb and flow delicately to create an undeniably catchy and infinitely satisfying end product. Beyond her stunning production quality, Woodes captivates listeners with her storytelling, through raw, emotional and deeply poetic lyricism. At its essence, “The Thaw” is a simple but beautiful metaphor which compares melting snowflakes to a shattered romance – and just as with all of Woodes’ other material, it’s the perfect track to chill out to.
