Featured Song: Pional – The Way That You Like Feat. Empress Of.
Spanish producer Pional and New York-based singer/songwriter Empress Of have come together for a standout track in “The Way That You Like.” The song is catchy and enthralling – its vocals are stunning, and its bouncing instrumental is evocative of 90’s synth pop, but with accents of R&B, alternative, and electronica.
The blending of these various styles results in a track which is at once emotionally charged, totally mystifying, and deeply invigorating. The production on this song is a marvel: Pional’s drum patterns give the song much of its energy, and subtly placed vocal shots produce an awesome, eerie atmosphere. This is the second single on Pional’s forthcoming EP, “When Love Hurts,” set to be released September 30th on Counter Records (Ninja Tune).
