Featured Song: quickly, quickly – lost you.
We’ve written about quickly, quickly before, praising his ability to effortlessly navigate a variety of different thematic elements all in a single track. With “lost you”, it’s clear that quickly is only getting better. There’s so much going on in this track – from delicate piano to 8-bit-esque synths and video game sound effects – but amidst such a wide array of sounds, everything just fits. All instrumentation (and vocal work) is performed by quickly himself, and there’s a cohesiveness that’s really evident on the track as a result.
With busier compositions like this, it’s all too often the case that togetherness is sacrificed for the sake of complexity. “lost you” is a great example of how to avoid this trade-off, and work a mix of styles and instruments into a composition that feels like one concrete idea. Keep an eye out for this guy, who is, to our disbelief, only 16 years old, and absolutely give his entire catalogue a listen.
