Minnesota native John Blanda a.k.a. BLANDA is a master of soulful chord progressions – his musical background and piano training shines through in his work, which seems at times the electronic equivalent of a jazz quartet.
“Lawd,” the first single off his forthcoming Blue Flannels EP – set to drop January 20, 2017 – is a wonderfully catchy track which features plucky, bouncy grooves, beautifully evolving synth chord progressions, and some fantastic vocal chops, all anchored by groovy drums. The track features Paul “Papa Bear” Johnson on the bass, who does a fantastic job carrying the track’s deep undertones.
