There’s a certain sense of beauty that is emitted from Jeanie’s work – it’s as if she creates her tracks perched atop a rock in the middle of a meadow. “Snail” blesses us with not one, but two beautifully intertwined beats atop a subtle bass section. The flow of the track is indicative of a producer who loves what she does, with each measure showcasing a new sample or unique percussive hit, and it couldn’t be any more fun.
“Snail” kicks off with a stunning melodic composition of an arpeggiated vibraphone-esque sound, and eases its way into a fresh breakdown. From there she utilizes the dreamy soundscape as she juxtaposes rhythmic synths with some extremely clean percussion. Repeated listens will uncover new layers and surprises, much like repeated views of a piece of art.
As water samples and a charming piano ballad fade, harp strings make their way onto Jeanie’s canvas, brushing neatly over a swooning drumline. Although the atmosphere doesn’t change, the second section brings in a new range of emotional melodies. The sheer number of layers present in the second track is enough to convince anyone of Jeanie’s musical talent. Faint acoustic plucks, a groovy bassline, starry synths, and powerful percussive numbers highlight this section, adding fresh depth to Jeanie’s wondrous melodies.
The China-based producer is on the rise, and for good reason.
