Featured EP: Kidswaste – Spleen.
By all measures, Spleen is a true triumph. Kidswaste’s official debut EP, released by Next Wave and Ultra Music, is gorgeous through and through, but also totally organic and wholesome – none of it feels in any way recycled or watered-down. Instead, each track on the EP is great in its own respect, and all together, they combine to form something coherently beautiful and totally catchy.
Per Kidswaste, Spleen‘s title itself carries deep significance. He said the following of the EP:
Spleen transcribes the movement created by [the late pioneering French poet] Charles Baudelaire into music. In French, “splénétique” refers to a state of pensive sadness or melancholy. I tried really hard to give a similar feeling to my music, to be able to deliver a bit of my French culture to others, and give a more meaningful sense to my music.
Well, Kidswaste, meaningful only begins to describe the range of emotions evoked by Spleen.
To embark on a musical journey, listen to the whole EP in its entirety – you won’t be disappointed.
