Hard as fuck: Granted, it might lack some eloquence, but there’s really no better description by which to sum up VALENTINE’s crazy, groundbreaking remix of MssingNo’s “XE2.”
In a number of ways, VALENTINE is pushing the boundaries here, taking risks, and doing so flawlessly – the track’s sound design is mind-blowing, its arrangement and composition are immaculate but unconventional, and its complexity, more broadly, is a marvel to behold.
The sheer number of drops in this remix – each one being totally different from the last, but all equally insane – is staggering. And yet, in spite of the track’s gritty and super aggressive nature, VALENTINE manages to keep things melodic, and even nostalgic/sentimental at times. In all, a remix to remember – a truly impressive one.
