North Carolina native Dylan Evans a.k.a. LAVIER calls his forward-looking album Prince of Trash Palace a maturation of sorts – in many ways:
“I’ve been growing up a ton and this album is kind of a coming-of-age thing in a lot of ways (production, composition, just actually growing up and improving as a person, trying to find peace haha).”
This sentiment shines through over the course of the 12-track album – something of a rarity in the singles- and short EPs-focused beats scene. Prince of Trash Palace seems, on the whole, something out of a futuristic movie. The album is highly experimental and unique, in a state of constant ebb and flow between frenetic, dizzying madness and calming, melodic bliss.
Some of the album’s highlights include the delicate and dreamy “We Watched The Sun Come Up On Faculty Street” and the classical-meets-IDM “Awake On The Couch At 5 In The Morning,” both evident of Prince of Trash Palace‘s constant evolution. It’s a coming of age project, but also a coming out party for the American producer.
