Featured Beattape: Biskwiq – Dawn: A Summer Opus.
Hot off the heels of his debut EP, Buttermilk, Chicago native biskwiq is back with a beat-tape which provides only the best summer-time vibes.
The tape’s tracklist goes through all types of lo-fi beats, with a combination of chill and bouncy instrumentation – exactly what one has come to expect from biskwiq’s past releases. Sampling the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Future, the beat-tape strips acapellas from some of your favorite rap songs of present day and mashes them – somewhat contradictorily but very satisfyingly – with vibe-filled hip-hop beats.
Each song is filled with so many details in its percussion and foley that you pick up on new elements with each listen, which increases its already large replay value.
Once again, biskwiq has shown why he’s one of the most sonically unique up-and-coming producers. And with the material he’s released this year, there’s no sign of him slowing down.
You can download the tape via Bandcamp.
