In what is easily the best remix in a stacked compilation, Anomalie delivers sheer brilliance with his jazzy take on San Holo and James Vincent McMorrow’s hit song, “The Future,” flipping the original on its head with some ingenious chords and chill vibes. Released via bitbird alongside remixes from the likes of Jupe and Vincent, the creativity in this one stands out in contrast with the other solid, if less risk-taking, iterations.
Montreal-based producer Anomalie, whose debut EP, Métropole – which is a must-listen – was released a few months ago to strong critical acclaim, has a unique style which combines electronic elements with classic jazz and laid back vibes. And it’s pretty darn good.
