Featured Album: Jagular – Tut Tut
Nashville-based 3 person band Jagular – comprised of Justin DeRosa, Thomas Doeve, and Chase Gregory, all of whom play multiple instruments – are as varied as they are enthralling.
Their debut project, Tut Tut, is a fascinating one – it’s filled with tons of surprises, the band constantly challenging itself and pushing sonic barriers. From catchy hooks to experimental, ethereal interludes, this EP has a bit of everything. “Move,” our favourite track of the bunch, captures Jagular’s essence perfectly: it’s a quirky but totally catchy anthem which’ll have your head nodding in no time.
“29” is another awesome track, showcasing the bold experimentation and dreamy ambiance that is prevalent throughout this entire project. Clocking in at over 7 minutes long, it’s also a prime example of the band’s willingness to work with meandering sonic journeys, rather than relegating themselves to the traditional and tidy sorts of song structures that you might expect.
In all, the EP, which can be streamed in full on Spotify, is a very promising start to this exciting young band’s musical journey.
